Between September 1 and October 31, Ondřej Jašek from the Deposition of Thin Films and Nanostructures research group at the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology and the CEPLANT center stays at the Laboratorio de Innovación de Plasmas (LIPs) at the University of Córdoba (UCO), Spain. Hosted by Prof. Rocío Rincón Liévana, the collaboration focused on the synthesis of few-layer graphene (FLG), and related technologies, including the fabrication of graphene–metal and graphene–metal oxide nanocomposites and hydrogen generation. The stay is supported by the COLOSSE program.
Together, they investigate how synthesis conditions affect the structural and chemical properties of the produced materials, as well as their thermal stability at high temperatures in air, argon, and vacuum. By combining plasma diagnostics, material characterization, and modelling – the latter developed at UCO – they aim to enhance the understanding of the synthesis process and improve both the efficiency and property control of the resulting materials.

Dr. Jašek also works as an expert on project ID2023-147436OA-I00, FAB, Scalable One-Step Plasma-Based Synthesis of Graphene Nanocomposites: Application in High-Performance Battery Electrodes. This visit builds on previous exchanges between CEPLANT and LIPS, strengthening long-term scientific ties. Previously, two of our PhD students, Jozef Toman and Miroslav Šnírer, visited LIPS during their ERASMUS stays in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and Dr. Javier Morales-Calero spent three months in Brno in 2023.
