2025 4th PNB Workshop

We are pleased to inform you about the 4th Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications (PNB) Workshop, taking place from October 20 - 23, 2025, at the OREA Resort Panorama Moravský kras in Češkovice. Supported by the Large Research Infrastructure CEPLANT, this international event will spotlight current trends in plasma nanotechnologies, with a focus on recent advancements, collaborative research, and industrial applications.

DCSBD installation at Fraunhofer IAP

The DCSBD technology has once again proven its versatility, with a successful installation at our partner institution, Fraunhofer IAP. Dr. Jakub Kelar, together with our chief electrical technician Jaromín Hašana, integrated a DCSBD unit system into a linear motion platform developed by the Fraunhofer team for advanced surface functionalization. This collaboration was possible through the R2R-Net consortium, which continues to support impactful innovation and cross-institutional cooperation.

Plasma technology at the STEM Festival in Kuřim

For the first time, the Faculty of Science participated in presenting physics at the two-day STEM Festival organized by TE Connectivity in Kuřim. CEPLANT joined the popularization team representing all physics departments. Slavomír Sihelník showcased atmospheric plasma surface modification and demonstrated its real-life applications. The event attracted around 2,000 visitors, primarily elementary and high school students from Brno and the surrounding area.

June Collaboration on Plasma Atomizer Research and Advanced Spectroscopy

Collaboration across teams brings new insights into plasma chemistry. As part of a GAČR project led by Assoc. Prof. Pavel Dvořák, experts from several research groups gathered at our institute to jointly test advanced plasma and flame atomizers for trace element analysis.

Simon Dap again joined DPPT scientists for experiments

Simon Dap from Laboratoire LAPLACE, Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, France) joined the Plasma Diagnostics and Modelling group at the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology and the CEPLANT center for a series of joint experiments. This year’s work builds on the promising results from his previous visit, focusing on measuring the concentration of free oxygen atoms in DBD discharges in a CO₂ atmosphere using TALIF (Two-photon Absorption Laser Induced Fluorescence).

Richard Krumpolec and Slavomír Sihelník recently represented our department and the CEPLANT center at Glass Performance Days (GPD) 2025 in Tampere, Finland – the leading global forum for innovation in the glass industry. Both presented on atmospheric plasma, a promising technology for glass surface modifications.
