Pavel Souček joined the MU delegation to Taiwan

Assoc. Prof. Pavel Souček is a leading expert in the preparation and analysis of thin films at the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. He joined MU’s delegation to Taiwan to discuss the cooperation between Taiwan univeristies and MU. The main goal is to promote the exchange of staff, students and joint research in hi-tech areas.

František Zelenák on Erasmus stay at Slovenia

Our PhD student, František Zelenák, is now on Erasmus+ at the Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia, where he is working on the preparation of graphene materials by RF plasma where the carbon is deposited from propane. He tests the prepared samples in supercapacitors. In preparation he optimizes the deposition parameters to prepare supercapacitors with the best properties. As part of his dissertation research in Brno, František also focuses on graphene materials, under the supervision of dr. Richard Krumpolec.

Exploring the potential of plasma-liquid interactions: Leila Zahedi and Pedram Ghourchi Beigi Erasmus+ stay

Leila Zahedi and Pedram Ghourchi Beigi, Ph.D. candidates at the Plasma Nanotechnology and Bioapplication group, Department of Plasma Physics and Technology, stayed four months at the University of Ghent for their Erasmus+ traineeship. They investigated the potential of plasma-liquid interaction for practical applications within the scope of their respective Ph.D. topics.

Science ON - Plasma with Zlata Kelar Tučeková

Dr. Zlata Kelar Tučeková accepted an invitation to join ScienceON - a science stream with experiments. The topic was plasma in physics. With the hosts and other guests ttopics such as nuclear fusion, low and high pressure plasmas, experiments and applications were discussed. Dr. Kelar Tučeková also spoke about the dielectric barrier discharge and its applications. The full stream can be viewed on the herohero platform.

Richard Krumpolec hosted Kingsley Iwu from Nanize

In mid-February 2025, Dr. Richard Krumpolec and Pedram Ghourchi Beigi hosted Kingsley Iwu, the CTO of Nanize AS. New insights into plasma application in the PFAS-free industry were discussed at the beginning of the sixth year of this collaboration with this Norwegian company. Experiments were carried out based on the use of plasma technologies for the activation of various substrates for applications in the coating industry.

Jakub Kelar visits Fraunhofer IAP and IKTS

Jakub Kelar visited Fraunhofer IAP, where he picked up the DCSBD plasma unit installed previously in November 2024. With Přemysl Štastný from CEITEC, they met with Sebastian Spange and his colleagues from Fraunhofer IKTS. They aim to prepare a joint project developing ceramic materials for dielectric barrier discharges. Cooperation on sample testing from both CEPLANT and CEITEC was discussed for the technology scaling-up.

Dušan Kováčik and Zlata Kelar Tučeková talked at SAPP

Dusan Kovacik and Zlata Kelar Tucekova represented CEPLANT and the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology at SAPP XXV (25th Symposium on Application of Plasma Processes and 14th EU-Japan Joint Symposium on Plasma Processing), held in Štrbské Pleso in Slovakia in the begging of February 2025. Both talked on atmospheric plasma surface modifications and functionalization.

Prof. Schneider's visit

Prof. Jochen M. Schneider, Chair of Materials Chemistry (MC) at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, visited CEPLANT center and Department of Plasma Physics and Technology on the 14th of January 2025. The visit is a testament to our ongoing collaboration with Deposition of Thin Films and Nanostructures research group, section PVDLab. Dr. Matej Fekete will also be staying at MC from the 19th of January to the 15th of February 2025.

SHM company received the Prize of the MU Faculty of Science

The Dean of the MU Faculty of Science awards prizes to outstanding collaborating organizations, schools, and individuals. One of the thirteen awards was received by Dr. Vjačeslav Sochora from the SHM company. SHM deals with developing, researching, and preparing PVD coatings for components and various tools.
