Anastasia Moskvina is new Brno Ph.D. Talent

Brno Ph.D. Talent Project announced its new winners. From physics at Masaryk University, Anastasia Moskvina was successful in Plasma Physics. Anastasia works under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Homola at the Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications research group. In her project, she will focus on creating plasma-modified MXene-loaded scaffolds that combine osteosarcoma therapy through photothermal and photodynamic effects with bone tissue regeneration support.

Kick-off meeting of MUNI Forensic Hub

On 11 December 2025, the Faculty of Law hosted the kick-off meeting of the MUNI Forensic Hub, uniting experts from academia and applied practice to establish a strong methodological and conceptual framework for forensic, expert, and advisory activities – without centralizing opinions or certifications. Assoc. Prof. Dušan Kováčik highlighted the role of plasma surface modification research from the DPPT and the CEPLANT Centre, illustrating how cutting-edge innovations can enhance forensic methodologies and education.

New project to speed up development of carbon-free energy circuit breakers

Since mid-year, a new four-year research project titled ‘Prediction of Dielectric Strength of Low-Voltage Circuit Breakers (DCB)’ has been underway. The project, funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, addresses the growing need for modern circuit breakers and switches, which are essential for the transition to sustainable and smart energy grids.

Lukáš Vrána extends his stay in Japan

PhD student Lukáš Vrána is extending his internship at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, where he explores advanced microscopy and micromechanical testing on high-entropy stabilized nitrides. His stay has already sparked new collaborations between Masaryk University and NIMS, paving the way for joint projects on student mobility and thin-film research using HiPIMS technology.

Development of plasma technology with 3D-printed ceramic dischargers continues

Dr. Jakub Kelar, Dr. Michal Pazderka, and student Dávid Brodňanský from the research group Plasma Nanotechnology and Bioapplications and the CEPLANT center are continuing the development of dual-frequency plasma technology in modular ceramic dischargers produced by 3D printing. Further progress, achieved in collaboration with Advanced Ceramic Materials and CEITEC BUT, opens new possibilities for plasma applications in materials science and beyond.
