ISSP 2026 in Kyoto, Japan

Researchers from the PVDLab, Depostion of Thin Films and Nanostructure research group at DPPT and CEPLANT presented three oral contributions at ISSP 2026 in Kyoto, highlighting advances in HiPIMS deposition processes and functional thin films. The conference also provided an opportunity to strengthen long-standing collaboration with Tokyo Metropolitan University and share results from joint research in plasma technologies and thin-film deposition.

DPPT and CEPLANT Researchers Present Latest Plasma Research at ESCAMPIG 2026

Our scientists participated in ESCAMPIG 2026 in Madeira, Portugal, where they presented recent advances in plasma science and technology. The contributions covered atmospheric-pressure plasmas, plasma diagnostics, plasma-liquid interactions, water treatment applications, and space plasma modelling. The conference also marked a continuation of the scientific exchange initiated when the previous ESCAMPIG conference was hosted in Brno in 2024, highlighting the international impact of DPPT and CEPLANT research.

Dr. Slavomír Sihelník Begins Research Stay at INNOVENT

Dr. Slavomír Sihelník from the Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications group at DPPT and CEPLANT has started a three-month research stay at INNOVENT e.V. in Jena, Germany, supported by the COLOSSE consortium. His work focuses on curing sol-gel coatings using atmospheric-pressure plasma technologies and evaluating the recently developed DCSBD Linear Jet alongside other plasma jet systems.

František Zelenák Showcased Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma Treatment of Graphene Membranes at FILTECH 2026

František Zelenák, a PhD student at Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications research group at DPPT and CEPLANT, presented his research at FILTECH 2026 in Cologne, Germany. His work focuses on the atmospheric-pressure plasma treatment of graphene oxide-based composite papers for advanced filtration applications. By combining plasma-induced reduction and surface functionalization in a single process, the approach enables tailored material properties for next-generation filtration membranes, highlighting the potential of plasma technologies in advanced materials engineering.

Hanna Szebesczyk and Claus Trost Visit DPPT and CEPLANT

The PVDLab research group for Thin Film and Nanostructure Deposition welcomed two visiting researchers, Hanna Szebesczyk from Rzeszow University of Technology, Poland, and Claus Trost from the Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science, Austria. During their stay, they carried out experiments and measurements focused on thin-film characterization and collaborated with Prof. Pavel Souček's team and PhD candidate Lukáš Vrána on research related to advanced materials.

Research Stay of Jaroslav Hnilica at Ghent University

Assoc. Prof. Jaroslav Hnilica completed a one-month COLOSSE research stay at Ghent University in Belgium, where he collaborated with Prof. Diederik Depla, a leading expert in reactive magnetron sputtering. Their joint research focused on how target composition and deposition techniques influence the growth and resulting properties of high-entropy oxide thin films. The collaboration contributes to a deeper understanding of complex oxide film formation and supports the development of advanced materials for future energy applications.

Dana Skácelová Presented Research on Plasma Modification of Composites at ECCM22

Dr. Dana Skácelová represented the DPPT and CEPLANT at ECCM22 – the European Conference on Composite Materials in Oslo, Norway. She presented research focused on plasma-enhanced interfacial bonding in fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, investigating the effects of plasma surface modification on fiber–matrix adhesion and mechanical performance. The work highlights the potential of plasma technologies to improve composite materials and facilitate their broader industrial adoption.

Matej Fekete on a Research Visit to Tokyo Metropolitan University

Dr. Matej Fekete visited Tokyo Metropolitan University in Japan as part of the MSCA MUNI programme. During his visit, he presented his research on advanced hard coatings and engaged in discussions on thin films, plasma processes, and surface engineering. The visit further strengthened the long-standing collaboration between Masaryk University and Tokyo Metropolitan University in the field of advanced materials and thin-film technologies.

Pavel Souček as an Invited Speaker at AMT 2026

Prof. Pavel Souček participated as an invited speaker at the AMT 2026 – Advanced Materials and Technologies Conference in Łódź, Poland. In his lecture, he discussed the design of high-entropy refractory-metal-based nitride coatings. The presented research demonstrated how plasma-assisted processes can be used to tailor the structure and performance of advanced coatings for demanding applications.
