Dr. Ganesh Kumar Nayak from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, came to the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology for a fortnight within the framework of the MEYS project "Defect design using ab initio calculations critically assessed on transition metal-aluminum nitride thin films" (8J24DE001). He is working on numerical calculations to predict the properties of thin film materials with the scientists from the Deposition of Thin Films and Nanostructures, research group, namely Mgr. Matej Fekete, Ph.D. and Mgr. Pavel Ondračka, Ph.D. from the PVDLab.

The MOBILITY projects of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) aim to strengthen the cooperation between scientists at the international level. Scientists have the opportunity to travel to each other and build closer scientific contacts and networks. As part of this project, Matej Fekete and Pavel Ondračka will travel to Aachen at the end of August and the beginning of September.

At the same time, Assoc. Prof. David Holec from the Austrian Montanuniversität Leoben came to Brno thanks to another MEYS project, "Atomically resolved realistic structural models of nanocomposite W-B-C" (8J24AT027), on which Ing. Jaroslav Ženíšek, Ph.D. works together with Mgr. Pavel Ondračka, Ph.D. The project again deals with modeling the material properties of thin films. The mutual visit is, therefore, a meeting of computational scientists from three different institutions.
