CEPLANT researcher presented their respective research at the international conference HAKONE XVIII – 18th International Symposium on High Pressure Low Temperature Plasma Chemistry.
The Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications Research Group of the Department of Physical Electronics and the Large Research Infrastructure CEPLANT organized the "2nd Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications Workshop". The workshop took place from October 11th till October 14th, 2021 at the VEBA Hotel in Broumov. It was the second run of the workshop, the first took place in 2019 at the University Center in Telč.
The workshop was also attended by several colleagues from the Comenius University in Bratislava. During the workshop, 20 lectures were given divided into four thematic topics: Surface Modification, Bioapplications, Flexible and Printed Electronics, New Materials & New Challenges.
The highest amount of lectures was given in the Surface Modification section, which was dominated by plasma treatment of various polymers, glass, and plasma curing of super-hydrophobic layers. Typically, comparative studies of the effect of several different plasma sources, both laboratory and commercial, on the studied material appeared. Current topics related to the preparation of nanofiber filters used in respirators, namely the effect of plasma on the adhesion of nanofibers to the carrier substrate and the nanofiber filters efficiency, were also presented here. In the Bioapplications section, lectures concerning seed decontamination and the antimicrobial effect of plasma on microorganisms were presented.
The section Flexible and Printed Electronics has dealt in detail with plasma applications in the production of flexible solar cells based on perovskites.
The last section focused on the research of graphene oxide and the selection of new dielectric substrates for electrostatic voltage measurement.
The lectures often reflected the currently solved projects in cooperation with industrial partners or the results of contract research. In addition to lectures and discussions, there was also some free time left to explore the Broumov region. New PhD students had the opportunity to get acquainted with colleagues and gain knowledge that they will use in further research during the lectures. The Book of Abstracts in electronic version is available on the Munispace portal.
