The Festival of Science 2024 was held at the Brno Exhibition Centre from Friday 6 September to Sunday 8 September 2024. Around 10,000 visitors had the opportunity to see the attractive world of science, technology, and history. CEPLANT joined the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology with the showcase of plasma technology.
Around ten thousand visitors attended this year's Science & Technology Festival 2024. The event was organized by the Brno Observatory and Planetarium with the support of the Statutory City of Brno and the South Moravian Region.
The event on Facebook was followed by 6 400 people. Attendees filled out 2 300 cards. In totoal, 375 was the number of science animators and promoters.
CEPLANT joined all three physics departments of MU Faculty of Science and showed what physics and physics research are about to adults and kids. There were demonstrations of light polarization, magnetic materials, liquid nitrogen experiments, 3D electron microscope images, quizzes, water rocket launching, sun observation, virtual reality, demonstration of an electrical discharge, plasma treatment and the power of low pressure. You can already look forward to the next Science Festival from 5-7 September 2025.
Prof. Šárka Pospíšilová, a prorector for research and doctoral studies, gave awards to new MU absolvents for exceptional results during their postgraduate studies. In the physics field, Dr. Roman Přibyl, a fresh graduates from the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology was rewarded.
The CEPLANT Centre co-organizes a two-day expert workshop focused on emerging research directions and technological innovations in the use of plasma and nanotechnologies for wastewater treatment. The event is organized in collaboration with the BalticNet PlasmaTec consortium, which promotes international research partnerships and project development under the Horizon Europe programme. The workshop will provide space for knowledge exchange, collaboration building, and joint research planning.
