Plasma as a tool to improve the quality of UV digital printing

Digital printing is now a widely available technology. However, the printed materials' size and variety still present a challenge for printers. Not all glass, polymer and Dibond boards, canvases, etc., are suitable for printing. However, atmospheric plasma treatments can also cope with the adhesion of these different materials for UV digital printing.

New diagnostics device RFEA

Since mid-July, our scientists have acquired a new device that extends the current capabilities in process diagnostics of thin film deposition. The RFEA (Retarding Field Energy Analyser) enables the measurement of incident ions with high time resolution, a crucial parameter for thin film deposition using magnetron sputtering.

CEPLANT exhibition extended

The CEPLANT exhibition portraying our research activities is extended until November 2023. The exhibition continues to be displayed at the stairway in the Dean's Office at MU Faculty of Science at Kotlářská 2 campus​.

The potential of plasma treatment for aerospace composites

Pilot experiments on plasma treatment of materials used for composites production were conducted by scientists from the Plasma Nanotechnology and Bioapplication Research Group at the Department of Physical Electronics and the CEPLANT Centre in Stuttgart, Germany.

The kickoff meeting with researchers from HAWK

Dr. Kelar Tučeková and dr. Kelar visited HAWK Hochschule, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Göttingen, Germany. CEPLANT and HAWK researchers are starting joint research on the functionalization of fibers and Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy diagnostics within a MOBILITY project between Czech and German partners.

Corentin Bajon studies reaction mechanisms of dielectric barrier discharges

French Ph.D. student Corentin Bajon has arrived at the Department of Physical Electronics and CEPLANT for the second time within the MOBILITY project. His research focuses on dielectric barrier discharges in carbon dioxide atmosphere and understanding various reaction mechanisms of said discharge.
